Helen's Bay Physiotherapy

About us

Emma Park

Emma is a third‑generation physiotherapist, proudly continuing the legacy started by her mother and grandmother. She graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Liverpool in 2010 and has since built more than 16 years of specialist experience helping people recover from injury, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love.

Emma began her career in the NHS in Merseyside, gaining a strong foundation across all core areas of physiotherapy. This early experience shaped her holistic, patient‑centred approach — one that focuses on understanding each person’s goals and tailoring treatment to their needs.

Her passion for musculoskeletal health led her to Auckland, New Zealand, where she worked in a combined Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic. Here, she delivered both mat and reformer Pilates alongside physiotherapy treatment for sports injuries, work‑related pain, and long‑standing musculoskeletal conditions. This movement‑based rehabilitation remains central to her practice today.

In 2015, Emma returned to England to take up a senior physiotherapy role with the Ministry of Defence, providing rehabilitation for injured military personnel — a role that demanded advanced clinical skills, precision, and resilience.

In 2017 she rejoined the NHS as a senior physiotherapist in a busy outpatients department, supporting patients with a wide range of acute and persistent MSK conditions.

Specialist in Fracture & Tendon Rehabilitation

In 2019, Emma moved home to Helen’s Bay, Northern Ireland, where she now raises her family. She worked as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist in the Fracture Clinic at the Royal Victoria Hospital, providing expert care for:

  • Fractures
  • Dislocations
  • Tendon injuries and ruptures

Emma has a particular clinical interest in Achilles tendon ruptures, guiding patients through the full rehabilitation journey from early recovery to return to sport and activity.

Bringing Expert Physiotherapy Into Primary Care

In 2026, Emma transitioned into a Primary Care physiotherapy role, allowing patients to access specialist MSK assessment and advice directly within GP settings. Her focus is on early intervention, clear guidance, and empowering people to take control of their recovery.  Through this role Emma is completing advanced training in prescribing and injection therapy for the benefit of her patients.

Get to know me….

At the weekend I enjoy meeting up with friends for a Park run in Crawfordsburn Country Park, or a sea dip on Helen’s Bay beach.  However, my favourite thing to do is spend time with Charlie and our 2 gorgeous boys – Joseph and Rory.

I used to say my proudest achievement was training and running the Liverpool Marathon in 2012.  However, my proudest achievement is now being “mum” to my two awesome boys.
